At what age should I start grooming my Doodle?
As an instructor of both Professional Stylists and Dog Owners, and grooming over 15 Doodles a week, I’ve answered this question at least 1,000 times from both students and customers.
Grooming does NOT mean a haircut. It doesn’t mean that you have to trim your dog’s hair down or shaving them.
What Grooming actually means is just that: grooming. Taking care of your pet’s coat and skin through through proper brushing, combing, bathing and drying.Professional Groomers recommend you to start grooming your puppy as soon as possible! If you’re taking them to a Professional Groomer, we recommend you waiting to take him or her after their first round of vaccines is completed. If you’re grooming them at home, there’s no need to wait!I’ve been a groomer for over 10 years and a curly coat specialist for 7 years. I am also an ISCC Dermatech (basically a doggy dermatologist) since 2019. My job is to teach people how to groom safely at home with professional-looking results.
